The Reproduction Effects of Smoking

With the popularity of E cigarettes, there are more than a few reasons to give up tobacco-based cigarettes. Everyone knows how cigarettes increase the risk of cancers, such as lung, oral, bladder and kidney. And secondhand smoke contributes to countless cases of cancer and respiratory illness. However, smoking doesn't only affect the smoker and those in close company with the smoker, it can also effect an unborn child.

People who smoke have a higher risk of infertility, and if they're able to conceive a child, there's a high risk for preterm labor and low birth weight. But the risks do not stop here. Smoking cigarettes also increases the chances of stillbirth, as well as sudden infant death.

If you're thinking about starting a family or adding to your family, now is the best time to quit smoking. Many aids are available, such as the patch, nicotine gum and prescription medications. However, some people have had success with E cigarettes. These cigarettes do not contain tobacco. Each electronic cigarette contains a nicotine cartridge. Simply choose a cartridge with a low nicotine content, and then gradually reduce your nicotine level to wean yourself off cigarettes completely.
