Smoke-Free Blessings

With the new year right around the corner, many people are thinking about upcoming resolutions. But while some people may resolve to lose weight or pay down debt, it's also a good time to kick the cigarette habit.

If you write down the benefits of smoking and the benefits of not smoking, the latter list will likely have more items. Although smoking can reduce stress and help with weight control, it's highly damaging to your health. Do whatever it takes to give up smoking, and you'll quickly realize the blessings.

1. Better breathing. Inhaling smoke can have a tremendous impact on your breathing. Some people develop respiratory problems or experience more infections. A chronic cough is also common among smokers. Give up cigarettes and your lungs will thank you.

2. Reduce the risk of serious illness. The longer you smoke, the greater the risk for cancer, heart disease and diabetes. But if you stop, you significantly reduce your risk.

3. Unpleasant odor. If you smoke, others may detect cigarette smoke as you walk by. Plus, your car and house may hold a smoke odor.

Many have successfully given up cigarettes and you can have similar success. If you're ready to move forward, consider the benefits of an electronic cigarette. Thus, you can smoke as you quit. These cigarettes do not include tobacco, thus there's no odor or risk of illness.
