Signs That You Need to Quit Smoking

Many young adults feel that they're invincible. And with regards to smoking cigarettes, they don't see an urgent need to give up the habit. However, lung cancer and respiratory problems aren't reserved for the elderly. And the longer you smoke, the greater your chances of falling ill.
Don't wait until it's too late. Here are three signs that it's time to quit.

1. Developing a smoker's cough. Constantly inhaling cigarette smoke damages your lungs and lowers your immune system. You're more susceptible to illnesses, and over time, you may develop a nagging cough. Stop smoking and you'll gradually alleviate the cough.

2. Family history of cancer. If you have a family history of cancer, your risk of lung cancer increases. Stop smoking at an early age and you significantly reduce your risk of lung, oral and throat cancer.

3. Difficulty breathing. Smoking and asthma is a dangerous combination. If you develop asthma symptoms or other respiratory problems, create a plan to quit smoking and avoid long-term damage.

Smoking is highly addictive due to the nicotine in cigarettes, but there is a way to get your nicotine fix without the tobacco. Make the switch to an electronic cigarette and take steps to improve your health. E-cigarettes are very similar to ordinary cigarettes, minus the tobacco and harmful toxins. And since you control the nicotine level in an electronic cigarette, you can little by little wean yourself off cigarettes completely.
